Many of these social and/or hereditary societies have historical and genealogical records and publications which might be available for review.

St. Nicholas Society of the City of New York

Collects and preserves information about the history, settlement, etc., relating to New York City and its native citizens.

Holland Society of New York

Collects and preserves information respecting the early history and settlement of New Netherland by the Dutch, and to discover, collect and preserve all still existing documents, etc., relating to their genealogy and history. Publishes de Halve Maen.

Order of the Founders and Patriots of America

Discovers, collects and preserves records, documents, manuscripts, monuments, and history relating to the first colonists, their ancestors and descendants.

General Society of Mayflower Descendants

Committed to research on the lineal descent of the Mayflower Pilgrims.

SOCIETY OF DAUGHTERS OF HOLLAND DAMES

Collects and preserves genealogical and historical documents relating to the Dutch in America.

Dutch Settlers Society of Albany

Collects and preservers information pertaining to the early history of Albany (Fort Orange, later Beverwijck) including genealogical records of the settlers and their descendants.  

National Society, Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America

Discovers and preserves. family records and history, otherwise unwritten and unknown, of the first colonists, their ancestors and descendants
